He said that there are around 250 small and big hotels in Kalam which are all fully booked.
Although clear data is not available regarding the number of tourists coming to Swat this year, security sources say that more than eight lakh tourists have come to Swat this summer, while in the last 10 days, More than 10,000 vehicles of tourists have entered, while during the days of Eid, this number reached 12,000 to 15,000 vehicles per day.
Alhaji Zahid Khan, President of Hotel Association in Swat, said that Swat is a paradise for tourists and the rates of hotels established here are fifty percent less than Murree and other tourist destinations of the country, which is a blessing for tourists. He said that there are more than 350 hotels in Swat, in which around 30,000 tourists can stay in one night, while there are around 400 restaurants located on the banks of the Swat River and other recreational areas.
Kalam Valley Administrator Habibullah Saqib said that this is the first time since the restoration of peace that a large number of tourists have put aside security concerns and fears to not only get houses on rent but also to avoid housing problems. Tent villages were also set up at Kalam river and Mahudand, while most of the tourists spent the night under the open sky due to lack of space.
Ehsan, a local shopkeeper of Madin, said that in addition to hotels, around 20 to 30 families are living in rented houses in the area, which has not only improved their employment, but markets and shops that close in the evening are now open late. which laments that the shadow of fear in Swat has now vanished.
