On the way from Faizabad to Murree, a few minutes away from Lake View Park, the Shahdara signboard can be seen. From here it is about 12 minutes drive to
'Shahadara Picnic Point'. Shahadara Picnic Point is a peaceful place, with a huge spring of cool fresh water coming out of it. There is no doubt that Shahadara is a timeless story of natural beauty. But there is no public transport here, so you have to book a special vehicle or have a private transport.
The road condition is very good, local people have stalls of various traditional food items here, while there is a hotel here. There is also. At Shahadra Picnic Point, tourists sit in the water with tables and chairs, bathe in the water,
swim, throw water on each other, splash and have fun. Most people come with families, children enjoy the shallow water. Being closest to Islamabad and Rawalpindi,
it is very crowded during weekends. There is also a 10-15 meter rock climbing point at Shahedra Picnic Point. Youngsters demonstrate their climbing skills on it.
I am told that there are more such climbing points, but people are mostly interested in swimming
, sitting in the water. CDA plans to build a water park near Shahdara Picnic Point in future,
which is a big news for the residents of the twin cities. Tourists have been seen throwing shopping bags, wrappers and fruit peels etc. They cause environmental pollution and spoil the natural beauty.
Therefore, all the tourists are requested to keep a shopping bag with them and put all the spare items in it so that the beauty of this place remains.
If CDA plays its role in this regard, it will be a very good effort.
Local people here speak Hindi but understand Punjabi and Urdu very well. Local villages spread far beyond the Shahdara picnic point, bordering Islamabad on one side
, Murree (Punjab) on the other, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the third.
